ADVERTISEMENT: VACANCY CIRCULAR NO. 33 OF 2014 – PRINCIPAL SOCIAL WELFARE OFFICER I (INTERNAL)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Local Authorities Employees for the above mentioned post tenable in North West District Council (Headquarters).
SALARY: D2 (P218 592- P241 344) per annum.
LEAVE: 30 working days per annum.
BENEFITS: Contributory Pension Scheme (Govt pays 15% employee pays 5%)
Optional Medical Aid Scheme (Govt pays 50% employee pays 50%)
QUALIFICATION: Degree in Social Work/ Psychology.
EXPERIENCE: At least 10 years of work experience, 2 years of which must have been served as Principal Social Welfare Officer II (D3) salary scale.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
• To manage, supervise and direct the Social Welfare Division to ensure that social welfare programmes are done effectively and efficiently.
DUTIES
• Supervises and guides subordinates in accordance with set standards.
• Coordinates all social welfare programmes in the district to ensure effective and efficient social service delivery.
• Develops service standards, guidelines and regulations to guide the implementation of social service delivery.
• Assesses the effectiveness and impact of social welfare programs and takes appropriate action where necessary.
• Prepares budget for proposed social welfare services for incorporation into the Council budget.
• Provides strategic leadership in the implementation of the Division mandate.
• Develops and maintains partnership with other stakeholders for collaborative planning and implementation on integrated social welfare programmes.
• Undertakes any other related duties as directed by the management
