Applications are invited from suitably qualified citizens of Botswana for the post of Senior Energy Engineer at the Department of Energy, Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources.

SALARY SCALE : D4 (P165, 300. – P182, 496) per annum

LEAVE : 30 working days per annum

BENEFITS : (i) Optional contributory medical aid scheme.
(Government pays 50% and Employee pays 50%).

(ii) Contributory pension fund (Government pays 15% and employee pays 5%).

QUALIFICATION : Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Environmental/Chemical Engineering or related fields from a recognised and accredited institution.

EXPERIENCE : A minimum of two (2) years post qualification experience in engineering field or any related field. Having worked in a similar position: modelling different scenarios, developing and designing sectorial programs, assessing the impacts of programs with a view to recommend optimal development path.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To give guidance on the performance of existing energy programs and evaluate data on methodologies for development of new programmes for sustainable use of energy resources.

CORE AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carries out Inspections of energy facilities and prepares reports
• Collects and analyses data on energy programmes and technologies
• Keeps and maintains data on existing energy programmes and technologies
• Carries out research on existing and new energy technologies
• Assists in monitoring implementation of energy projects
• Provides information to customers on energy programs and technologies
• Supervises the processing of applications for operating licenses
