ADVERTISEMENT: VACANCY CIRCULAR NO. 39 OF 2014 – PRINCIPAL MECHANICAL ENGINEER II (INTERNAL)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Local Authorities employees for the above mentioned post tenable in North West District Council-Okavango Sub District Council.
SALARY: D3 (P190, 104- P209, 868) per annum
LEAVE: 30 working days per annum
BENEFITS: Contributory Pension Scheme (Govt pays 15% employee pays 5%).
Optional Medical Aid Scheme (Govt pays 50% employee pays 50%).
40% of basic salary as scarce skill allowance
QUALIFICATION: Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (B. eng).
EXPERIENCE: Officer must have served eight (8) years of work experience and at least two (2) years of satisfactory performance as Senior Mechanical Engineer II.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
• To manage and perform mechanical engineering works.
DUTIES
• Designs and develops cost effective equipment modifications to help improve safety, reliability and output.
• Supervises, organizes and ensures effective operation of electro-mechanical operations of the water/ wastewater/sludge treatment plant to ensure that all components are functioning according to specifications.
• Conducts in-depth quantitative analyses of design performance for proposed and developed designs using hand and computer aided methods.
• Supervises and guides subordinates in accordance with set standards.
• Integrates all mechanical aspects of design into systems.
• Performs analysis (thermal and structural – static and dynamic) at all levels of development and recommends the types of parts and materials to be put to use.
• Resolves any test failure, including root cause failure investigation, performing supporting analyses, defining appropriate changes and conducting re-tests.
• Undertakes any other related duties as directed by management.
