SENIOR LECTURER IN GEOMORPHOLOGY

Duties: The successful candidate will provide academic leadership through enhancement of teaching, research and community service activities of the Department and will be expected to (i) teach courses in the area of Geomorphology, at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels; should have the ability to offer courses related to pure and applied geomorphology e.g. arid zones, dating techniques, study of palaeoclimates/climatic geomorphology; should be willing to contribute to the teaching of introductory courses in the physical environment (iii) initiate, develop and establish research in the area of Geomorphology and/or environmental quality with other staff in the Department and (iv) carry out any responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements: Candidates must (i) have at least a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline; (ii) an Undergraduate Degree in Environmental Science or cognate discipline with at least a second class, first division (2.1) pass/ GPA of at least 3.6; (ii) at least 3 years of teaching experience at a University or comparable institution; (iii) a good record of scholarly research and publications in the area of specialization; with at least 6 publications, 4 of which are peer reviewed journal papers, (iv) lead and/or single author in 2 refereed journal articles or book chapters, (v) applicants should demonstrate evidence of service. The following shall be added advantages: (i) a relevant PhD and demonstration of effective academic leadership; (ii) ability to attract funding from International sources and competence in any of the following techniques: Environmental Quality, GIS and remote sensing techniques. The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name of publishers and name of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books etc.
