Maintenance Superintendent

Duties and Resposibilities

- Develop a maintenance strategy plan for all maintenance and repair tasks in his section.

- Achieve required equipment availability within budget.

- Demonstrable competencies in maintenance work planning and control.

- Demonstrable track record and competency in maintenance of support equipment in an open cast mining environment

- Thorough understanding of contamination control in a Heavy Mobile Equipment work Environment

- Ensure that the procurement and supply team are given a forward projection of parts and materials requirements to ensure all parts arrive just in time and only critical items and minimal inventory is stocked on site.

- Ensure client relations are managed in a cordial manner in all matters by:

- Produce monthly reports on maintenance and repair initiatives.

- Achieving and maintaining high Safety, Health and Environment standards

- Implementation of the departmental talent management initiatives by ensuring the right competencies and effectiveness of manpower (capacity building)

- Responsible for his/her Subordinates' effectiveness and responsible for all performance management requirements for his/her subordinates.

Qualifications and Requirements

- Diploma in Engineering or 4 years Apprenticeship with an NCC qualification

- At least ten (10) years' of relevant mining experience four (4) of which should have been served at a supervisory level

Competencies

- Strong hands on experience in a fast paces contract mining environment

- Experiences in developing, leading and monitoring teams

- Good track record managing teams and client relationships

- An effective leader with good interpersonal skills at all levels, and an ability to resolve conflict

- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

- A result-oriented individual who is committed to achieving targets

- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
