Programme description
UNITAR's Green Development and Climate Change Programme (GCP) develops the capacities of individuals and training institutions in developing countries to implement the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and to advance green and climate resilient development. It offers a range of services, including executive training, institutional capacity development, support for national learning strategies, learning methodology development, and knowledge-sharing. Activities are carried out through partnerships with other UN organizations, bilateral development partners, as well as leading learning institutions and think tanks. The Programme also hosts the Secretariat for UN CC:Learn, the One UN Climate Change Learning Partnership ( www.uncclearn.org).
The internship/traineeship
The Intern/Trainee will support the activities of the UNDP-UNEP National Adaptation Plan Global Support Programme (NAP-GSP) in LDCs and non-LDCs and the UN CC:Learn project, in order to enhance project management and effective development and dissemination of knowledge products. The Intern/Trainee will also take part in a variety of other climate change capacity development projects to get to know the different work areas of UNITAR's Green Development and Climate Change Programme.
Specific working areas will include
- Provide day-to-day management support to the NAP-GSP and UN CC: Learn projects;
- Keep the NAP-GSP and UN CC: Learn knowledge-sharing system up-to-date (e.g. draft news article, share E-news, up-load learning resources, etc.);
- Support the design of learning packages (e.g. MOOC on adaptation finance and private sector) to UNITAR quality standards and international certification;
- Provide support in background research and stocktaking studies on existing adaptation policies, programmes and activities;
- Contribute to the organization of meetings and workshops, national to global;
- Support in mission planning and development of analytical tools, questionnaires and other related materials;
- Support other activities of the Climate Change Programme (e.g. CC&E Backstopping Mandate; R3 activities; Youth Climate Dialogues) as required.
