Overview of role

Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will be responsible for accurate analysis, administration and communication of pension related benefits, monitoring claims and ensuring proper assessment protocols are observed in order to remit accurate benefits to eligible beneficiaries

Job description

• Customer Focus - monitor and manage service delivery, identify problems, blockages and bottlenecks; make or suggest changes to processes based on client feedback
• Data Management - make pension benefits calculations relating to transfer value and benefit estimates in line with formulas established under the Fund rules and regulations. Liaise with all Appointing Authorities on issues relating to member benefits
• Retirement Benefits - calculate and make deductions for tax and other insurance payments, calculate, process and remit salaries, calculate and process retirement benefits. Process and confirm exit transfer value at retirement
• Member Withdrawal Benefits - carry out the transfer value process, carryout the liability pay off process, set up and define advance types in the FAS as well as define the lump sum formula in the FAS
• Pensioner Services - experiential knowledge of Income Tax Act, BPOPF Annuity and fund rules, the Pensioner Services module on the FAS, or guaranteed payments, procedures for account suspension and processes and linkages to the Financial Services function, Investment Management Department and Actuaries
• Death Benefits - experiential knowledge of Fund rules and relevant legislation, reporting/ accouting/ monitoring of death benefits transactions executed, the operational linkages with Trust Services

Requirements, Education and Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or equivalent
• 3 years' post qualification experience in an administration environment
• Operational knowledge in benefits administration, data management, trust services and pension fund regulatory environment
