PRESS RELEASE 2015 JUNIOR CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION (JCE) RESULTS RELEASED

Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has released the 2015 Junior Certificate Examination (JCE) results. A total of 41,938 candidates wrote the 2015 examination showing an increase
in candidature of 3.4% from the 2014 candidature of 40,559.

There were 20,621 male candidates and 21 317 female candidates sitting for the 2015 Junior Certificate Examination.

Overall performance indicates that 33.4% of candidates have been awarded Grade C or better compared to 34.6% in 2014, which represents a drop of 1.2%. This year, one (1) candidate has satisfied the requirement for the award of Merit compared to two (2) candidates obtaining merit last year.

There is an insignificant decrease in the percentage of candidates awarded grades A (-0.4%) and B (-1.2%) this year compared to 2014. The proportion of candidates at grade D increased by 1.7% while at grade E there has been a decrease of 1.0%. Furthermore, in 2015, 6 932 which is (16.5%) candidates obtained Grade U compared to 6 395 (15.8%) in 2014, which is an increase of 0.7%.

Symbols used in the Results
• U denotes that a candidate failed to meet minimum requirements for Grade E.
• X denotes that a candidate failed to meet the requirements for the award of the qualification.

Distribution of the Results will be done as follows:

1. Distribution to centres: The results will be sent to the centres through normal post.

2. Distribution to Regional Offices: Regional Offices will access the results through the Malepa system as well as CDs which will be sent through normal post.

3. Individual Candidates: Candidates will be able to access the results through the BEC Website as well as SMS.

4. Distribution to MOESD: The results will be accessed through book print and CDs delivered to Ministry Headquarters.

How to access Form 3 results via. mobile phone, once they are released!

Go to Compose New Message and type your: 
Level CentreNumber CandidateNumber CandidateSurname (please include a space between the parameter values) and send to 16688.
Example:
JCE JC0001 0002 Moithuti send to 16688

PLEASE NOTE:
Centre number should be 6 characters i.e JC plus the four digit centre number.
Student number should be 4 numeric characters.
The surname is not case sensitive
