Maintenance Engineer - Automation & Information REF JWNG00161
- Analyse the financial needs to develop a budget and ensure sufficient financial resources to meet business needs
- Translates the engineering strategies into medium/long term strategic leverage areas or interventions for development of maintenance systems to support the operations in meeting the business objectives and targets
- Establishes and sets best practice standards for equipment, taking cognizance of health, safety, environmental, technical and legislative directives by:
- Performing life cycle costing and equipment criticality classification exercises to assess best practices for maintaining approaches replacement, inventory control, service, repair, and reconditioning as well as the decommissioning and disposal standards.
- Integrating new equipment into existing infrastructures
- Analysing equipment performance to identify maintenance related problems and devising remedial solutions
- Ensuring that upgrades and enhancements of equipment/machinery are performed to ensure optimal effectiveness
- oversee the programming configuration/calibration, commissioning and optimisation exercises as appropriate
- Performing over-inspections, fault finding, and diagnosis on equipment and making remedial plan or recommendations as appropriate
- Developing and approving standard operating procedures
- Oversees the implementation of the departmental talent management initiatives by ensuring the right competence and effectiveness of engineering manpower (capacity building) through developing and implementing career, localisation/succession, training and development plans
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering or BSc in Electronic or Control Engineering or equivalent
- 7 years post qualification control and instrumentation maintenance experience in a heavy engineering industry including Engineering in Training (EIT) programme, with three (3) years of substantive mining industry Engineer level.
- Registration with Botswana Engineers' Registration Board or equivalent
- Middle Management Development Program
Additional advantages
-Experience in computerized maintenance systems (CMMS)
- Extensive programmable Logistic Controllers experience, specifically Mitsubishi, Siemens & Allan Bradley
