Purpose of job:
- The role will include the establishment and reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the Personal and Business Banking business unit and the monitoring of product, segment, branch and BU performance and profitability
- The prime customer of the incumbent is the Director PBB to whom a full financial management service will be provided
- To be a member of the PBB Management Committee (MANCO)
Key result areas
- Develop and implement reporting of key PBB management information (MI) ensuring data integrity and timely communication to relevant managers.
- Provide MI, reporting and query resolution support to PBB, including monthly product, segment, branch and BU performance analysis.
- Identify areas of performance shortfall and propose corrective interventions to PBB management team.
- Investigate variances to budget, provide explanations and recommend corrective action.
- Drive the required business analysis and related process for making recommendations for new performance opportunities.
- Develop and track KPIs trends and develop benchmarking processes for PBB.
- Prepare detailed MI schedules against forecasts and KPI’s on revenue and balance sheet targets for the, branch managers, area managers, relationship managers, product managers and segment heads
- Analyse deviations from KPIs and targets/ margins with explanatory notes.
- Prepare monthly analysis and commentary on margin, product, branch, segment and BU performance, identifying areas for improvement and corrective action.
- Prepare and present the annual budget and revised estimates for PBB BU.
- Monitoring of revenue and expenditure against budget for the BU.
- Prepare monthly summary PBB performance reports and analysis for submission to head office
Requirements
Qualifications:
- B.Com (Accounting/ Finance)
- ACCA or CIMA
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years banking experience
- Previous financial Modelling and data mining experience
- Experience in balancing financial and business performance and coaching non-financial managers will be an advantage
- Advanced computer skills (Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
- Understanding of IFRS
- Previous experience with Cognos an advantage
- Working knowledge of accounting software. (Knowledge of SAP, Bank Master or Branch Power will be an advantage.)

- An appreciation and a good understanding of macro economics and external factors affecting the business strategies adopted, and market serviced by SBBL.
- High level of business and financial acumen.
- Ability to analyse and evaluate data for acceptability and correctness.
- Analytical mind with strong orientation to financial analysis.
- Ability and experience in communicating with all levels of management regarding management information needs.
- Good interpersonal skills required in liaising with people at different levels within the bank.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- A person with high integrity.
- Advanced computer skills (Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
