GIZ International Services (IS) is an integral division of GIZ. We offer the experience, the regional and technical know-how of GIZ in the global market and provide international clients with expertise in terms of economic and result-oriented services.
GIZ International Services currently prepares a project concept that aims at strengthening employment-relevant technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Botswana. The project intends to increase industry access to qualified labor in sectors with growth potential. Specific objectives are to improve the quality and relevance of TVET delivery in selected industry sectors for young women and men; and to improve hands-on work readiness of graduates of vocational training institutions through cooperation between the public and private sector. Advisory services will cover the following fields:
Your tasks
The team leader (m/f) holds the overall management responsibility for the implementation of the GIZ contribution to the co-financed "Strengthening employment-relevant TVET in Botswana" programme, which is part of an integrated approach that also includes the deployment of a number of additional advisors to different TVET relevant institutions in Botswana. You are responsible for the overall implementation of this integrated program including coordination of the long-term TA, additional advisors, short term experts, national staff and human capacity development measures. Furthermore the team leader is accountable for regular dialogue with and reporting to the programme clients (BMZ, Government of Botswana, Botswana Chamber of Mines).
Your profile
? University degree at least on master level in discipline directly related to the purpose of the contract. ? Minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and human resource development. ? Extensive experience in different areas of TVET development, organisational development, change management and coaching. ? Longstanding working experience in different sectors of the private industry in human resource development and TVET related areas ? Networking experience with labour market, vocational training and private sector actors and support programmes of other development partners. ? Minimum of 10 years of experience in international cooperation. ? Previous experience with TVET projects within GIZ will be considered advantageous. ? Outstanding analytical skills. ? Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. ? Ability for high professional communication and intercultural cooperation. ? Proven track record in capacity development in a public or private sector context; experience in facilitating multi stakeholder processes. ? Ability to interact in different cultural and professional environments and to create good working relationships at local and international levels. ? Leadership experience and management of complex projects. ? Work experience in the Southern African region and verbal communication skills in Setswana would be an asset.
Assignment period
The intended start date is January 2015 and the planned project duration is 36 months.
