GIZ International Services (IS) is an integral division of GIZ. We offer the experience, the regional and technical know-how of GIZ in the global market and provide international clients with expertise in terms of economic and result-oriented services.

GIZ International Services currently is currently preparing a project concept that aims at strengthening employment-relevant technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Botswana. The project intends to increase industry access to qualified labor in sectors with growth potential. Specific objectives are to improve the quality and relevance of TVET delivery in selected industry sectors for young women and men; and to improve hands-on work readiness of graduates of vocational training institutions through cooperation between the public and private sector. Advisory services will cover the following fields:

• System development
• Cooperation and Network Development
• Organisational Development
• Human Resource Development

Your tasks

The senior TVET expert (m/f) supports the Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) in the delivery of its key mandate, which is to provide efficient, quality and relevant education and training that is accessible to all. His/her main responsibilities are:

• To support the Team Leader on programme management tasks, results-based monitoring, knowledge management, and reporting.
• To ensure operational management ( budgetary responsibility, operational planning, monitoring, support the bi-annual progress report) of output component A "strengthening the capacity for steering and implementation of training policies and activities at the MOESD"
• To provide advisory services ( sector process and management consultation) regarding management and regulations of technical and vocational training to relevant actors within MoESD.
• To coordinate the deployment of additional capacity development resources in the framework of the "Strengthening employment-relevant TVET in Botswana" programme.

Your profile

• University degree at least on master level in a discipline directly related to the purpose of the contract
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in the field of technical and vocational education and training
• Extensive experience in TVET governance, monitoring and evaluation
• Capacity building activities, experience in collaboration with Government entities
• Experience in establishing and implementing monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems
• Networking experience with labour market, vocational training, private sector actors and support programmes of other development partners
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in international cooperation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Proven track record in capacity development in a public or private sector context; experience in facilitating multi stakeholder processes.
• Ability to interact in different cultural and professional environments and to create good working relationships at local and international levels.
• Work experience in the Southern African region and verbal communication skills in Setswana would be an asset.

Assignment period

The intended start date is January 2015 and the planned project duration is 36 months.
