This position requires a full understanding of steel fabrication in producing the locomotive Cab Structures. This involves the start of the process with burning of the steel using plasma, lasers, and oxy/fuel burn machines, various mills, drills, presses, and rollers to sub-assembling these parts into the final welded products. Cab Structures to include the Operator Cab, Inverter Cab, Dynamic Brake Box, Upper Auxiliary Cab, Alternator Cab, Engine Cab, Radiator Cab. | |
- Ability to understand the product drawings / documentation and relay this information to the partner's team in order to meet production requirements per the contract. - The following documents must be understood and taught as necessary: Product Drawings Documents of Technique Manufacturing Standards Technical Specifications Documents of Quality Control Tooling Drawings and Techniques - Work closely with GE Erie personnel and fully understand the welding and fabrication processes for Locomotive Cab Structures. - Educate partner's personnel on the technical training required in Erie as well as the technical service required in South Africa to meet the contract requirements. - Accountable for meeting the quality standards required for successful engineering verification of the manufacturing processes. - Understand product drawings / documentation and relay this information to global partners - Create quality and manufacturing processes in the support of Locomotive Cab Structures manufacturing in order to pass verification testing in country | |
- Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English - Minimum 4-year technical degree – Mechanical Engineering or steel fabrication related field. - Minimum 5 years working with light steel fabrications, machining, detailed assemblies, and all facets of welding operations. - Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings / specifications and manufacturing processes. - Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with diverse team members. - Must be self-directed, highly detail oriented, organized, and flexible. - Must be able to use various hand tools and inspection equipment as required in the fabrication of the Cab Structures ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: - Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally | |
