Applications are invited from suitable qualified persons for the above position at the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Department of Geological Survey tenable in Lobatse.
Salary Scale: D1 (P251, 376. – P277, 524 per annum)
LEAVE: 30 Working days per annum

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) in Geophysics or degree in Geoscience/ MSc in Geophysics or MSc in Geoscience or related field from a recognized and accredited institution.
Experience: At least 12 years’ experience in the geological/geophysical exploration projects or related field of as an earthquake seismologist and Geophysicist Management two years at D2 scale.

Job Summary:
• Monitors seismic activity using data from Botswana Seismological Network (BNS) stations as well as regional and global networks.
• Maintains BSN network of stations. The incumbent will also be occasionally required to execute seismological surveys for geotechnical purposes.
• Prepares project proposal for geophysical projects.
• Coordinates execution of geophysical exploration projects.
• Manages and coordinates geophysical projects.

Duties:
1 Information Dissemination
• Advices customers on geophysical matters and projects.
• Addresses customer enquiries and queries related to geophysical exploration activities.
• Disseminates geophysical information to customers.

2 Administration and Management
• Coordinates geophysical data processing, analyzing and interpretation.
• Edits and finalizes projects reports for division
• Monitors the maintenance and updating of geophysical database and information.

3. Research
• Conducts geophysical research on the application and interpretation of geophysics

• Coordinates the execution of geophysical projects.
