Job Summary
To develop and provide strategic direction for Mineral Resources Management in line with the Debswana Business Strategy for optimal delivery to ensure business sustainability and maximise shareholder value.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- BSc (Hons) relevant degree / BSc relevant degree plus Post Graduate Qualification
- A minimum of 10 years MRM post qualification experience of which 3 years should be at Senior management level or equivalent in a mining / mineral resources management environment.
- Membership to a recognised professional body e.g. South African Council for Natural Scientifi c Professional – SACNASP
- Management Development Program (MDP) or equivalent
- Mineral Resources Management (Pre-appointment training)
- Experience in leading or working in a multidisciplinary technical/geoscience environment.
Key Activities
- Interprets operational requirements and integrates with discipline based financial needs to ensure availability of financial resources to meet business objectives.
- Responsible for, approves and monitors the utilisation of allocated funds to enable the attainment of departmental objectives.
- Participates and provides input into the Development of the business strategy.
- Develops medium to long term mineral and water resources and reserves management strategies in line with the company’s strategic goals and objectives.
- Evaluates and manages the impact of operational and strategic changes on the mineral and water resources and reserves management strategy in consultation with the Management Committees and other stakeholders
- Interprets relevant Acts and laws to incorporate them into MRM operational policies.
- Assesses, evaluates and manages risks associated with mineral resources assets by developing appropriate mitigations.
- Decides on outside peer reviews, assurance providers, groups and consultants.
- Manages the development of systems and information management structures required for the identification and implementation of industry best practice.
- Ensures alignment with appropriate code of practice, legal registers in line with local government statutory requirements, quality assurance and control measures.
- Identifies business risk and manages implementation thereof and adherence to legal and corporate governance principles/requirements.
- Translates business strategic and operational goals into integrated mineral resources management plans.
- Directs the initiation of projects, ensuring that all projects are managed and executed in accordance with project management and technical best practice principles.
- Manages subordinates’ key effective areas by setting, monitoring and reviewing performance and taking remedial action as necessary.
- Directs departmental subordinates to achieve individual and team objectives by; ensuring the right competence and effectiveness of manpower (capacity building) through developing and implementing career, localisation/succession, training and development plans; recruiting and placement of human resources.
- Provides the framework for application of knowledge management principles to ensure effective knowledge capture, exchange and adaptation.
- Provides the framework for identification and implementation of creative and innovative ideas and processes to ensure continuous business improvement.
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives.
