Job purpose:
The Child Protection Coordinator – Upper Nile State is responsible for the overall supervision and management of all LWF programs in Upper Nile State. This entails overall responsibility for the effective and efficient management of LWF Child Protection Activities in Upper Nile state.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development studies, Psychology or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of five years’ international experience managing large development and humanitarian projects with many staff in a reputable international organization. linking education to reconciliation and peace initiatives
- Excellent team work and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated experience and skills in training facilitation, conducting assessments, baselines and evaluations using participatory methodologies; data analysis and interpretation.
- Possession of practical skills in writing concepts notes, donor proposals and reports
- Sound understanding of project management cycle, humanitarian principles and standards including SPHERE, HAP and the Code of Conduct
- Computer literacy with full knowledge of office applications, internet and email
- Willingness to travel for over 30% of time and to live/work in remote locations with very basic conditions.
- Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic will be an added advantage.

Position Description
Child Protection Coordinator
Reporting & Communication lines: The Child Protection Coordinator shall report to Team Leader under the overall leadership of the Country Representative.
Duty station: Maban, Upper Nile State
Key Functions:
Program management
- Lead in assess and identify the psychosocial needs of children in the camp.
- Lead in conduct group and individual therapy sessions to address psychosocial needs of refugee children.
- Identify and resolve cases of emerging conflicts between children and their care givers.
- Develop and facilitate training plans to address children identified needs.
- Manage and maintain documentation and records of psychosocial support cases for purposes of follow up and referral.
- Ensure that Unaccompanied, Separated and orphaned children arriving in the camp are identified upon arrival in the refugee camp, their social history documented, foster families identified and the children are successfully fostered.
- In collaboration with other agencies facilitate tracing and reunification of unaccompanied and separated children with their relatives.
- Prepare and submit weekly/monthly/quarterly and feature reports as required.
- Build the capacity of and supervise refugee staff to perform similar duties in the social and protection work for children.
- Collaborate with other LWF sectors and implementing partners in order to ensure smooth implementation of activities and coordination of efforts.
- Develop work plans and project monitoring tools.
- Nurture collaboration between local authorities, stakeholders, partners and children.
- Document lessons learned; collect case studies and success stories for reporting and advocacy.
- Performs any other official duties that may be assigned from time to time by the CPC or his/her designate.
- Work with the training officer to organized and facilitate trainings on child protection and other relevant topics, psychosocial support and life skills for the children and youth through participatory methodologies.
- Supervise assistants, child protection community based structures (CFS, CPC’s, mobilizers) and provide them with regular feedback on their performance and areas for improvement.
- Participate in recruitment process in the organization.
- Conducted assessments in the camps to implement appropriate interventions and recommend changes in program design.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the LWF child protection and youth strategy.
- Represented the LWF in relevant coordination meetings, workshops both at local levels.
- Adhered to LWF reporting policies on prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, code of conduct, child protection policy.
