Job summary:
• To undertake engineering geological/geotechnical and environmental geology mapping of areas in Botswana (designated development regions, towns and villages) and produce maps and publications of international standards describing the geotechnical aspects of soils, intact rocks and rock masses, and environmental geology processes that may constrain the development of human settlement such as floods, groundwater problems and pollution, and land stability.
Duties:
• Engages in the assessment of Geotechnical and Environmental Geological constraints that may hinder development of human settlements or any other developments projects. Investigate and determine the impacts of proposed human settlement or other developmental projects on the geological environment and suggest appropriate mitigation measures for design and planning decision support.
• Makes geotechnical tender documents and research project proposals outlining objectives, timing, manpower, financial and human resources requirements.
• Conducts regional and site specific field geotechnical investigations generating data, analyzing and interpreting results and disseminating recommendations on the land development suitability constraints as thematic maps and technical reports
• Provides technical input into stakeholder projects and reference group committees.
• Responds to public requests with regards to environmental geological matters
