VACANCY: PROJECT DIRECTOR – ENVRONMENTAL ADVISOR
Applications are invited from suitably qualified citizens for the above position at the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Coal Development Unit.
VACANCY CIRCULAR NO 9 OF 2015
Salary: F2 (P414, 768 – P439, 656 per annum)
Leave: 30 working days per annum.
Benefits: Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government
Contributes 50% and employee 50%)
Duration 2 – 3 years contract (Renewable)
Qualifications: B.Sc degree in Environmental Sciences / Resource Management plus MBA or any other related field.
Experience: A minimum of 14 years work experience in the relevant area, including the management of mega infrastructural projects, five (5) of which should have been at senior managerial level.
Main Purpose of the Job:
To ensure that all projects that are intended to facilitate a speedy implementation of the monetisation of the country’s vast coal resources comply with acceptable international environmental standards and practices thereby ensuring foreign direct investment.
Key Performance Areas:
1. Responsible for providing inputs that ensure environmental compliance for all projects undertaken to ensure the facilitation of the monetisation of the country’s coal resources,
2. Identification and introduction of mitigation measures to manage the risk to the environment by monitoring and enforcing environmental management plans.
3. Ensures that Firms engaged for the provision of services abide by the laws of the land especially on Health, Safety and Environment
4. Develops and Manages budget expenditure for development of coal infrastructure.
5. Manages human resources (Trains, develops and manages subordinates’ performance.
6. Undertakes such other related duties as may be directed by management.

VACANCY: PROJECT DIRECTOR – RAIL & LOGISTICS

VACANCY CIRCULAR NO 12 OF 2015
Salary: F2 (P414, 768 – P439, 656 per annum)
Leave: 30 working days per annum.

Terms of Employment: 2 – 3 years contract (Renewable)
Qualifications:
BSc Engineering (Civil/Mining) or any other related field. MBA will be an added advantage
Experience:
A minimum of 14 years work experience in the relevant area, including the management of mega infrastructural projects, five (5) of which should have been at senior managerial level in transport operations management preferably in a railway environment.
Main Purpose of the Job:
Coordinate railway networks interconnections to strategic ports to facilitate mineral exports.
To plan, organize, direct, manage and control the cost effective, competitive, safe conveyance of coal and freight throughout Botswana railways’ network and adjoining railway administrations to optimize utilization of assets and resources, maximize profitability and meet customer service expectations and ensure adherence to Coal Development Unit (CDU) operational regulations to promote reliability and safety throughout the network.
Key Performance Areas:
• Advises in all matters relating to Rail development logistics and other civil engineering and building structures.
• Coordinates and mobilises resources required for the rail network development to facilitate cost effective mineral exportation.
• Prepares medium and long term operational business strategy for the railway and detailed proposals to develop and maximize availability of track and associated structures.
• Coordinates the design and implementation of rail related infrastructure projects
• Participate in the development of Service Level Agreement and monitor implementation adherence.
• Undertakes such other related duties as may be require by the exigencies of the job.
