QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Social Sciences (Political Science, Public Administration, Economics, Sociology, Psychology), Bachelor of Arts (Humanities) or Degree in Public Relations.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 10 years’ experience of which 2 years must have been spent at upper middle management in the Public Service, private Sector or Parastatal with administrative, economic, political and public relations responsibilities.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To manage and coordinate the programme of work of the office of the Minister to ensure efficient, timely and smooth delivery of service and to ensure that briefing notes are of good quality and that speeches are well researched and written in a manner that reflects the status, dignity and good image of the office of the Minister.
DUTIES:
• Manages and coordinates the work of the Office of the Minister to ensure timely and efficient delivery of Service to the Minister.
• Tenders advice to the Minister on any issue as and when called upon to do so.
• Prepares draft statements/speeches for the Minister’s public Speaking engagements
• Coordinates the Minister’s office activities and directs these activities to the Minister
• Accompanies the Minister on Local trips
• Covers assignments such as workshops and Ministerial meetings
• Manages the diary of the Minister in a manner that ensures that meetings with the Minister are held on schedule and provide services as required.
• Processes and verifies request for media interviews from various radio/television stations and organisations/news agencies, briefs the Minister on such requests and tenders appropriate recommendations. Undertakes the necessary arrangements to ensure the relevant officials of the Department of Information and Broadcasting attend and record interviews.
• Attends the Minister’s media interviews and monitors the Press by following up written stories to determine whether or not they are a true and correct record of the interview.
• Initiates budgetary requirements for the Minister’s office
• Undertakes any other related duties as shall be assigned by management.
