The Department of Physics invites applications for three fellowships in the newly established University of Oxford Centre for Astrophysical Surveys, funded through the Hintze Family Charitable Trust. The centre is focused on the exploitation of current surveys in order to build a platform for Oxford participation in LSST, Euclid, SKA and the EELT. We are seeking three fellows with research interests in cosmology, galaxy evolution and astrophysical transients. The fellows will be encouraged to develop a personal research programme which should overlap with the current interests of Oxford Astrophysics. The appointments are for 3 years in the first instance commencing in October 2014.
Successful candidates will have or be about to receive a PhD in a relevant area of astronomy or astrophysics, should have a demonstrated capacity for independent work and be capable of initiating research in a lively group. They will have the opportunity to teach and may benefit from a college association.
Applications should be received by 12.00 noon on 20 June 2014. You will be required to upload a statement of research interests, curriculum vitae, and list of publications, and details of three referees as part of your online application. Candidates should also arrange for their reference letters to be sent to: recruitment@astro.ox.ac.ukby the closing date.
