A Postdoctoral Immunologist with a PhD relevant to immunology is required to join Dr Simon Draper’s group. The group is focussed upon the design and development of vaccines that induce high-level protective antibody-mediated immune responses. Over the past 6 years, the group has taken six novel vaccines from pre-clinical development into first-in-man Phase I and/or Phase II clinical trials, and has a number of further products currently in development.
You will support a new programme of work aiming to develop a novel vaccine against rabies. Our hope is that you will also be able to contribute more widely to other programmes of ongoing work, and we are particularly keen to further develop the group’s pre-clinical immunology capabilities, mostly in rodent models.
You need to be self-motivated, technically competent and capable of working independently. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and you will be able to work effectively with others. Good documentation and computer skills are essential and you should demonstrate ability to research complex issues and interpret, analyse, and present scientific data and write reports. Previous experience of immunological techniques, including flow cytometry, and experience of sterile cell culture techniques are required. You should have good organisation skills to be able to manage multiple projects effectively.
Ideally you have previous experience of supervising and training others. Experience in: rodent immunology, in vitro cellular immunology, antibody response profiling, monoclonal antibody generation, in vitro virology, basic molecular biology skills, or working in a Containment Level 3 laboratory, would be desirable skills.
If you are interested in this role, and have the skills and experience we are looking for, please apply online.
Only applications received before 12.00 noon on Wednesday 28 May 2014 will be considered. Interviews are planned to be held w/c 2 June 2014.
