As Senior Policy Analyst / Deputy Head of Policy you will have extensive experience of public policy making processes and a proven track record in delivering robust research and advocacy strategies that have demonstrably shifted policy and practice.
Access to drinking water is frequently articulated as the highest priority of the poor. Basic sanitation, with hygiene behaviour, is the single development intervention that brings the greatest public health gains. However, international donors and national and local governments in developing countries rarely prioritise water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). Consequently the sector faces significant challenges in delivering universal access to permanent WASH services. Can you help turn this around?
WaterAid is seeking to appoint a Senior Policy Analyst to serve as Deputy Head of its London-based Global Policy team. To be successful, you will need extensive experience of public policy making processes and a proven track record in delivering robust research and advocacy strategies that have demonstrably shifted policy and practice.
As a recognised authority in your chosen field of expertise, you will have excellent communication skills and experience presenting at high level events. You will also have experience leading, managing and mentoring cross-organisational teams to deliver on strategic objectives.
Ideally you will have an excellent understanding of the policy debates and implementation challenges relating to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) or other basic services’ sectors. You will have experience in developing and strengthening the accountability, capability or responsiveness of official institutions in developing countries including ‘fragile states’. The ideal candidate will also have a proven track record of delivering original, high quality research and publications and/or devising and implementing high impact advocacy strategies.
