The Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism aims to protect the environment, conserve the country’s natural resources and value out of the environment for the benefit of the Nation.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified citizens for the above position in the Department of Corporate Services – Gaborone and Department of Forestry and Range Resource - Maun, under the Ministry of Environment Wildlife and Tourism.

SALARY SCALE: C4/3 (P64, 632 – P95, 748) per annum.

LEAVE: 25 working days per annum.

QUALIFICATIONS: National Diploma/Higher National Diploma in Secretarial Studies (NDSS/HNDSS).

EXPERIENCE: (i) NCSS Plus 2 years satisfactory service as Typist I at B1 Salary scale or its equivalence.

(ii) Candidates who hold at least a NCSS plus 6 years post qualification relevant experience will also be considered.

BENEFITS: (i) Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and employee 50%)
(ii) Contributory Pension Fund (Government Pays 15% and employee 5%)

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To operate the department electronic typewriters and computer word perfect and spreadsheet programs to type and produce official documents.

DUTIES
(1) Oversees the work of junior staff and provides on the job training;
(2) Types letters, minutes, reports, notes from manuscripts or other forms of copies and files copies
(3) Produces copies from original scripts;
(4) Checks their work for correctness and proper layout;
(5) Keeps up to date with Public Service procedures and practice regarding the use of abbreviations, correction of first draft, and in addressing of official correspondence;
(6) Takes shorthand dictation;
(7) Undertakes any other related duties as assigned by the management.
