CAFOD, one of the UK’s leading international aid agencies, is currently looking fora Head of Humanitarian Programmes. The post holder will cover Asia, Middle East, Latin America, Caribbean (AMELAC) but will be expected to show flexibility on areas covered if required.
Job Profile
The Head of Humanitarian Programmes will lead the development and implementation of humanitarian strategy for their areas of responsibility in close collaboration with the relevant Head of Region. This will involve working closely with colleagues, to ensure humanitarian programmes are integrated into the work of the regional programme. The post holder will champion working in partnership, capacity building of partners and take decisions on appropriate responses to any emergency. This may range from a small one off grant, to policy work, or a major organisational response over a number of years. Where our partners are unable to respond, the post holder will oversee any direct implementation of humanitarian programmes that CAFOD may take on. The Head of Humanitarian Programmes will play a key role in representing CAFOD to church partners, NGO networks and donors, influencing externally and internally, and contributing to the development of CAFOD’s humanitarian strategy.
Your profile
We are looking for candidates who have significant experience of humanitarian response work in a variety of contexts, especially management of complex humanitarian response programmes. Candidates will have demonstrable strategic thinking and planning skills, and will be experienced at working with and influencing various internal and external stakeholders. A commitment to the value of working in partnership and capacity building is essential. As a faith based agency a sympathetic understanding of CAFOD’s Vision, Mission and Values is important and candidates should be confident that they are able to engage faith based partners and church representatives
