Champion of Health and Safety, ensuring that the Mine Technical Services team report all SHE incidents and participate in SHE initiatives
Ensure production and geological support is provided to the Mining and Metallurgy departments
Manage grade control planning to ensure maximum ore recovery, minimize ore dilution and increase the mine resource
Ensure geotechnical support and surveying services are available to the Mining departments
Ensure that exploration activities comply with company and statutory expectations
Responsible for key discipline specific design work during the feasibility study
Together with the Human Resources Department, staff the manpower plan according to budget
Establish the total discipline specific practices and procedures ensuring legal compliance and operational readiness
Develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures to ensure all operating and capital costs are minimised and that all variations are reported, followed up and remedied
Overseeing ore scheduling and ore delivery
Manage expenditure to within budget levels
Prepare requisite reports

Minimum Requirements:

Relevant BSc degree or other relevant technical qualification in Mining Engineering, Geology or an associated field
Strong technical skills in Geology, Mine Engineering, Mine Planning and Survey
Membership to relevant professional bodies and associations
At least 10 -15 years post-graduation discipline experience
Must have worked in both underground and open cast mining (imperative)
At least 5 years General Management experience
Experience in the construction of a mine and managing a developing mine
General management, leadership and people skills
Motswana citizen preferred
